royalmarriage: (Chuck - Chuck)
Picked up the latest SFX magazine on the way into work this morning, and as well as a feature on Being Human* it's also got rather a nice article on Chuck. Which is nice.

And next issue has a cover feature on Supernatural, which I'm quite looking forward to.

In negative news, it looks as if for financial reasons I probably won't be able to make it to Redemption. Not an absolute negative, but a most likely negative. On the bright side, I'm pretty definitely going to EasterCon, having registered for it at the last EasterCon (but I still need to sort out transport and a hotel of some description).

Dai.

*Did I mention it's on from Sunday 25th, BBC3, 9:00pm, six episodes, don't miss it..?

...gacked from [livejournal.com profile] lonemagpie. And assuming that "this year" refers to 2008...

Your main fandom of the year?
Doctor Who is always my main fandom, other things just come and go.

Your favourite film watched this year?
Not sure. I don't think I've watched many. Mamma Mia, I think.

Your favourite book read this year?
Haven't read many. Probably Death is Forever (one of John Gardner's James Bond novels).

Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?
I've been listening a lot to Bilingual by the Pet Shop Boys (vastly underrated, IMO), as well as Gold Afternoon Fix, Priest=Aura, and Sometime Anywhere all by the Church.

Your favourite TV show of the year?
Doctor Who, Chuck, Heroes, Supernatural, Merlin, The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Your favourite LJ community of the year?
I don't really have a favourite - they're just useful places to spend time with people with whom I share interests.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Chuck, with the Buffyverse close behind. Also, Merlin has been good fun.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I can't really think of one.

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Milo Ventimiglia.

Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Freema Agyeman.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
The clip of all the past Doctors in The Next Doctor. Who said Paul McGann doesn't count??!

The most missed of your old fandoms?
Press Gang.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
It's not a TV fandom, but I keep meaning to get round to reading some Jasper Fforde books.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
More Doctor Who.

When I was first introduced to the world of Harry Potter (watching the first three films in one day, which included going to see the third on its release at a local cinema), I was quite drawn to Harry/Hermione, if I'm honest. I guess just being a bit old-fashioned and thinking that it's right for the hero and heroine to pair off together. This despite soon learning that it was a doomed ship. I still clung to it...

These days, I'm more slash-oriented, and Sirius and Remus is my number one OTP ever in any fandom - I just think there's something wonderfully sweet about them together, and they're almost but not quite canonical, and I've got a little happy place where spoiler ) they're living together in a cottage in Gloucestershire, where they're often visited by their adopted son Harry, on leave from teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts. (I've got to write that one day.)

Also, Ianto Jones with...well, anyone other than Jack (who I'm convinced is going to break his heart), from any fandom I'm particularly fond of pairing him with George from Being Human and Sam from Supernatural, and one day I'm going to write my Big Slashy Epic Crossover which combines all three series and pairings into one...mess, probably.

And I really love Merlin/Arthur, but heck, that's canonical, so I don't have to want to see it. *g*

Ahead of The Now Show recording yesterday, because Tim and I had arrived in central London with Rather A Lot Of Time To Kill, we headed down to Forbidden Planet, where I picked up the first two issues of the latest Serenity comic book series, Better Days, which look just as wondrous as Those Left Behind did, and there's also the promise of a future comic book series telling the story of Shepherd Book, which should be fascinating.

One of the guys at the recording - someone I've chatted to before, but can't remember his name, was wearing a Serenity T-shirt, so he wins at life. He mentioned an upcoming Serenity convention in the UK. I think he said it's in the next couple of weeks or so, too soon for me to think about going, but I'd quite like to go to one in the future.

Also picked up the third issue of Titan's Torchwood magazine, which was good, although I can't be the only one who finds it somewhat bizarre that despite Torchwood the TV series being aimed at an adult audience and Doctor Who being more family-oriented, the magazines seem to be the other way round. I'm not necessarily talking in terms of swearing or anything like that, but whereas DWM tends to go for very text-heavy articles with small text closely bunched together, the Torchwood mag seems to go for fairly large text widely spaced.

Also, can anyone explain why my local Smith's hasn't stocked the second issue of Torchwood never mind the third, whilst it did have the second ish of Titan's Supernatural magazine the other weekend? I'd have thought that Supernatural was rather a minority interest in the UK compared to Torchwood...

On which note - do any of the Supernatural fans on my Flist know if there's a Supernatural comic book out there? The Titan mag doesn't include any comic strip, which is a shame. I'm sure a Supernatural comic book would be a good thing and V Popular. And I'd buy one if one already existed.

David.
