I live in Hemel Hempstead. You've have to go a long way to beat this.

(NB: That's "unusual or unique". It's not necessarily aesthetically pleasing, and it's certainly a pain in the neck to drive round. Sarah's technique involves closing her eyes, praying, and going for it.)

There's something about a monument like this that fair warms the cockles of my old (well, 15 years, technically)* Methodist heart...

*Length of time I've actually been a Methodist.

Just been out for a very pleasant evening in Swanage with [livejournal.com profile] huntingospray. Had a meal at Seabreeze (the restaurant formerly known as "Fisherman's Catch"), and boy when they give you a portion of fish and chips they give you a very very large indeed portion of fish and chips, and then took a stroll along the sea front, past huge crowds of people celebrating the jubilee (a couple of live bands were playing) and more union jacks than I feel entirely comfortable with, and then up to the pier. We walked right to the end of the pier, but sadly I didn't shout out "I'm the king of the world!" although I had done that at the breakwater earlier in the day.

Now back at the hotel. We head back for home tomorrow, but are vaguely hoping that we might do something before leaving.
