royalmarriage: (Doctor Who - We've come on holiday by mi)
So, with the Key to Time watch over, I decided to press on through the show in chronological order, meaning that over the weekend I watched Destiny of the Daleks.

Okay, it's not the best serial ever transmitted (still - City of Death next, which is all kinds of yay! and has John Cleese and Julian Glover in it). Putting it mildly. But, I found Ken Grieve's direction and camera work to be rather captivating, and I couldn't help wondering, if he's still directing (and he certainly was up until 2009 when, according to imdb, he worked on some episodes of Law and Order: UK), it'd be interesting to see him work on some episodes of nuWho. Wondered what anyone else reckons about that?

Speaking of which, I notice that Richard E Grant is the guest star for the Christmas special. Hmm. So he finally gets to do proper Doctor Who after The Curse of Fatal Death (cute, sexy and lick-the-mirror handsome), The Scream of the Shalka, and The Two Doctors in Cumbria Withnail and I. Which is good. Even better if he ends up playing an alt/future Doctor, although I guess that's more than a wee bit unlikely...

...with liking a group which only plays instrumental music is that when you can remember a snippet of a track that you'd like to listen to in full, you don't even have some hint of the lyrics to help you google it...

Oh well, time to listen to all their output (or as much of it as I've got on my iPod, which I'm fairly sure will contain the track in question)...

...and now seemed as good a time as any...

I know I have a fair few gamers on my Flist, and we're talking old skool pen & paper RPG stuff...

...does anyone play Warhammer 40,000 RPG? Specifically Dark Heresy? Specifically using the Inquisitors' Handbook? Specifically running a campaign that could use, say, one extra PC (i.e. me, playing a Sister of Battle)? Specifically one where either geography is not much of an object (i.e. fairly near to Hemel Hempstead and/or gettable to in either evenings or weekends), or joining in virtually (i.e. Skype or some such contrivance) is a possibility?

If so, erm, just let me know, okay?

Thanks. :-)

Oh, dear...

Okay, I just read this story on Not Always Right,'s not my imagination, is it? Some people really are too stupid to be allowed to vote, drive, have kids, heck I might even go so far as to say live...

...for watching programmes set in beautiful locations and thinking it'd be nice to visit the locations concerned.

So, for example, I watch The Stones of Blood and I suggest to Sarah, "let's visit the Rollright Stones!" I watch The Androids of Tara and I suggest to Sarah, "let's visit Leeds Castle!" City of Death is next on my watch list, and there is no doubt that, "let's visit Paris!" will pass my lips in a Sarah-ward direction.

Sarah, can, I think, count herself very lucky that I find nothing aesthetically appealing about the Anglian marshland in which The Power of Kroll was filmed...
