So, the new Radio Times is out today, and as usual, it's got a preview of the next issue - the one covering the week beginning Saturday 1st September.

big-ish image. ) far as I know, no official launch date for the new series has been announced, but the Radio Times for the week beginning 1st September is carrying the big RT publicity splash for the new series, which means it's probably being broadcast that week.

Not necessarily - I'm sure there's been at least one instance since nuWho began where the publicity splash was the issue before the new series (and that happens routinely for the Christmas specials anyway). But it seems likely.

(Of course, there's always a possibility that they might have decided to transmit it on a day other than Saturday. But that's unlikely...)'s the thing...the online Radio Times still doesn't have Doctor Who listed for Saturday 1st. To be more accurate, it doesn't have anything listed for that day from 6:30pm - 8:20pm. There's Total Wipeout up until 6:30pm, National Lottery from 8:20pm, and - to quote Barbara Wright - "Nothing in the middle!"

That nothing in the middle, at 1 hour 50 minutes, is quite clearly way too long for an episode of Doctor Who.

But supposing, just supposing...maybe the production team have been given carte blanche by the BBC to go for a nice epic season opener, a full hour long - not unprecedented, it happened for The Eleventh Hour.

And maybe the BBC have decided to launch the new series not with a paltry one episode, but with a double bill - Asylum of the Daleks and Dinosaurs on a Spaceship in one evening?

We'll know soon.
