Okay, so...

...the good news is there's going to be a film of The Hobbit, and Peter Jackson will exec produce, and there's even a possibility that Sam Raimi may direct.

The bad news is there's...going to be a sequel??? (Is there an internet way of doing that thing the backing vocalists in The Lumberjack Song do when they get to the line "he puts on women's clothing and hangs around in bars"? 'Cos that's really the sort of thing I want to express here. I guess a simple "WTF" will have to do, but it doesn't capture the sheer confusion coursing through every fibre of my being at this point.)

David.

I tend to go for ....? or possibly a O.o
I know exactly what you mean and I am now in a similar state of confusion.

How can there be a sequel? *brain hurts* Did I notice that it was your birthday? Happy belated birthday! Unless I've gone insane, in which case Happy Un-birthday! ::g::

Surely all they need to do is finish the animated version?

*runs*

I read about that a while ago, and the story as I remember it was that they wanted to tie The Hobbit into LOTR more by expanding all the links that are kept offpage. Like we might see Gandalf and Saruman (and Radagast!) team up to take down the Necromancer, or more of Elrond (because the Rivendell of the book would have to be quite different to fit with the trilogy, no?) or even, and I'm less keen on this idea, Aragorn: The Wilderness Years.

Hi, by the way. Just passing through. :D
