So....

My emotional/mental state continues to fluctuate. Right now, I feel pretty balanced, though, which is good. I put that partly down to remembering to take my anti-depressants (always helps...) and partly to managing to be vaguely productive at home. Each evening this week, I've been singling out a little area to work on, and tidying and cleaning it just a few minutes at a time - interspersed with doing a bit of reading, normally. As a result of which, I've got a fairly clear bedroom floor area (needs hoovering, though), including access to my wardrobe, and the stairs are also fairly clear too (although again, they need hoovering). I feel fairly chipper as a result of that - yes, in the overall scheme of things it's not massively important, but it sort of feels as though things aren't getting on top of me any more, which is positive and uplifting. This morning, I was sorting through a pile of clothes that have built up - some need cleaning, some are clean (which is terribly confusing, but means I'll be bunging a wash on tonight).

Tomorrow, Sarah and I will be going to Watford to celebrate her sister's birthday - nothing major, but should be a good family gathering. Then on Sunday, I'm hoping that we'll go to celebrate my grandmother's birthday (I've asked Sarah if she'll let me drive there - it's only in Shenfield, so as long as she remembers the L plates I'm legal to drive there with her in the car). Also, it'd be nice for Sarah to see Eleni and Jakob - she's not seen Eleni yet! And when I was visiting Antonia on Wednesday evening, I showed Jakob my favourite pic of me and Sarah, and Jakob asked, "when is auntie Sarah coming here?" Aw, bless!

Also, we have a voucher to use up in Loch Fyne before the end of the month. We had a pleasant time the last time we went there, so it'd be a shame not to use it.

And end of next week I get paid, after which...Christmas shopping.

Anti-depressants always help, but the whole being productive thing is even better. There's nothing worse than not actually having the enthusiasm to do anything. I've lost count of the number of days I've spent just lying on an unmade bed watching the cats...

And just because it doesn't seem important to the rest of the world at large, it's important to you and if it makes you feel good, then all the better!

Sounds like a fantastic weekend planned! Enjoy yourself!

Have you been to the original LF restaurant yet? It's lovely. Inverary and the loch itself are lovely quiet places (very 'old Scotland' with early Georgian buildings in the town). There's also Kilmartin Glen just up from there (fab museum, standing stones, cairns etc) and Kilmartin Church's templar burials - for those who like to explore the legends of Templars at Bannockburn... And of course Scotland's first capital - the vitrified fort at Dunadd, which was the fortress of the Scoti (rather than the Picti)

Well worth a visit, but definitely car needed. Very rural. Treat once you've passed? (if quiet rural holidays steeped in nature, history and legend is your thing...)

Actually, I've never even been to Scotland! Which is terrible, I know. Sounds like a lovely area to visit (and yes, quiet rural holidays in areas full of history and legend are right up my alley). Once I've passed my test, I'll put it on the list of places to go to (could even be for the not-quite-a-honeymoon in the few days after the wedding), but not before - a drive that long is definitely one to do in shifts!

The original LF restaurant is lovely - lots of pine, a Viking theme and lots of local fare (Arran brewery beers, Fraoch, local cheeses etc) last time I was there. The folks in the shop are very helpful too.

I think the Kilmartin Glen museum is probably one of the best I've been to as well. So much to see just in the valley - Julian Cope's The Modern Antiquarian (I do love that book) gives a fair amount of detail about the area.

If you do a Scottish road trip in the future, the whole west coast is really nice (not that I am in any way biased with my maternal side's roots in Ayrshire, ahem). Nostalgia trips for me would include the Zavaronis' (as in Lena) chippie on the isle of Bute, Nardini's ice cream parlour in the marina just outside Largs, or taking the CalMac ferry to any of the coastal islands round there!
