DDoS off.

My thoughts on the wave of DDoS attacks that have been besetting Livejournal lately, as expressed by the second Doctor in Enemy of the World:

"People spend all their time making nice things and then other people come along and break them!"

He talked a lot of sense, did my favourite Doctor (yes Smith, yes Tennant, yes Baker C, but really, Troughton was Da Man). I love Livejournal. It's my home from home, and I've made some fantastic friends through it, and been able to keep up with loads of existing friends because of it. I hope these...whoever it is, who are doing the DDoS attacks, quit. I hope LJ and its users don't quit.

That said, if you want to pop over to Dreamwidth to at least set up a second residence there (and maybe back up your LJ, which is quite possible), I have ten invite codes. PM me your email address.

But please don't leave - I don't know what I'd do without you guys!

I did set up a Dreamwidth account, but I found I preferred LJ by far. I for one will not quit, no matter how long these attacks keep up. I just can't understand this ridiculous DDos thing, it strikes me as the virtual equivalent of putting a brick through the window of a bus. All you're doing is denying a needed service to people you've never met and should have no quarrel with... you know what? I think I'll stop there and blog about this myself, before I just keep on ranting!

:-)

Ranting is good. :o)

I'm setting up a Dreamwidth account as a backup but from what I've seen, I'm not about to leave LJ unless the entire thing does a crash and bunr. Even then I'll go poking around in the ashes for signs of life...
