Sarah and I went to Pasadena for BotCon last year, and I really liked the area and have said for a while that I'd like to go back. I notice that next year's BotCon is taking place there, so hopefully I'll get my chance (although hopefully at a hotel that's a tad nearer the convention centre). It looks like it'll be our first proper holiday since Egypt (although we're hoping to take a few days' break around our wedding anniversary, that's going to be slightly complicated by me not having much annual leave allowance until October), so hopefully we'll be able to make an event of it if we go.

As it is, money issues and also the sheer timing of the thing mean we're not likely to make it to AutoAssembly this year (sorry to any of our friends who we were hoping to meet there) - never say never, but we'll probably just about have moved into Hemel Hempstead by then, be living out of boxes, all of that malarkey.

Still, there's Redemption and Illustrious to look forward to next year, and I'm kind of hoping we might be able to make it to Dimensions as that's our convention and the guest list this year looks pretty good. For that matter, Hallowhedon is tempting (Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite, Anthony Head..!). And then there's Diacon Alley.

It's all go...

  • 16:03 There was some sort of sporting event yesterday? Why did nobody tell me so I could deliberately avoid it instead of accidentally missing it? #

Any Tron fans on m'Flist, there's rather a massive exclusive piece on Tron Legacy in the latest issue of Empire magazine (UK edition at least - presumably other editions as well).

Mmph, I don't appear to have a Tron logo userpic (could've sworn I uploaded one, but mebbe not), so have a B5 one instead.

Which, considering that the text I fed it was an old Harry Potter fanfic of mine is either incredibly clever of it, or incredibly dumb (maybe just programmed to recognise key words like "Harry," "Ron," and "Hermione"?)

A couple of lines of The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy I fed it earlier resulted in "I write like Douglas Adams," which was actually rather surprising given the brevity of the text. Or maybe it just recognises some lines of Douglas'. On the other hand, dialogue samples from City of Death apparently register as Raymond Chandler; as do "he had a pleasant, open face," and "it made a wheezing groaning sound."

And a recent diary post of mine gives me this, rather unpleasant, result:
