royalmarriage: (Doctor Who - Fantastic)
I've checked the calendar, and it's definitely not April 1st...

Tom Baker Joins Big Finish.

"We’re delighted to announce that Tom Baker will be playing the Fourth Doctor in a number of audio adventures for Big Finish, to be released from the beginning of 2012. Storylines and scripts are already at an advanced stage, and we plan to start recording early in the summer.

The first season of six single-disc releases will begin in January 2012, with a second season of seven single-disc releases to follow at a date to be confirmed. There will also be a five-disc box set entitled Doctor Who: The Lost Stories – The Fourth Doctor Box Set..."

Which is all a bit "yay" as far as I'm concerned. My bank balance may decide otherwise, admittedly...

Now all they need to do is to negotiate the licence to do some Eccleston and Tennant audios...

Just came across this in my Twitter feed. Very useful and informative. Clicky link (opens up as an image file).

Ah, that's good (he says cryptically).

Also, this looks fun. Fun as in a World of Warcraft sucking your life away sort of fun. But fun nevertheless.

Odd one, this. I mean - it's only seven days, so it's not like a "marooned on a desert island" style thing - but does the "only five items" include, well, things like clothes, washbag, that sort of thing, or is it assumed that you'll be taking that anyway?

Assuming the latter...dunno, 'cos to me a "tropical paradise" is somewhere I probably wouldn't go by choice...having said that, I went to Thailand for my cousin's wedding. But I'm not really a "lying on the beach soaking up the sun" sort of a person.

So...roughly speaking:

  • [livejournal.com profile] huntingospray, for obvious reasons. Does she count as an item?
  • A good book to read.
  • My netbook so I could possibly get some writing done.
  • Swimming trunks. I'm not a serious swimmer, but I could have a splash around in the hotel pool or even in the sea. Maybe. Ish.
  • Decent sunblock, to avoid looking like a lobster.

Either shnuggle time with Sarah, or watch DVDs - preferably catch up with stuff I've not seen yet, including US shows (I've got various eps of Fringe, Chuck and Supernatural waiting to be watched properly), as well as most of Outcasts.

The bad news: at work we had a major power outage at about 2:30pm. The power came up soon afterwards, but IT are still struggling to get the servers to reboot - well, some are alright, some aren't. So although I could log on to my PC, I couldn't get onto the network and therefore couldn't do any actal work. So I left work a bit early. Which I wasn't happy about, but at least it meant I wasn't twiddling my thumbs for too long.

On the bright side - just made myself a new default userpic. Yay for Matt Smith!

Bummer.

I just made a nice, if rather basic, desktop wallpaper of the Eleventh Doctor in a stetson.

And then discovered that Windows 7 Starter edition (which is what I've got) won't allow you to change your desktop wallpaper. Mmph.

I could upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium edition (well, not until I next get paid I couldn't...), a snip at £70:00.

So...is it worth £70:00 to have Matt Smith on my desktop?

Yeah, so maybe I could rephrase that, but...£70:00 for the privilege of being able to change my desktop wallpaper - I think all the other Windows 7 features it lists are ones I've either done without, or am able to do perfectly well with non-MS programs. But maybe I could do them better if I paid £70:00 to The Man.

Tough one.
