I just made a nice, if rather basic, desktop wallpaper of the Eleventh Doctor in a stetson.

And then discovered that Windows 7 Starter edition (which is what I've got) won't allow you to change your desktop wallpaper. Mmph.

I could upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium edition (well, not until I next get paid I couldn't...), a snip at £70:00.

So...is it worth £70:00 to have Matt Smith on my desktop?

Yeah, so maybe I could rephrase that, but...£70:00 for the privilege of being able to change my desktop wallpaper - I think all the other Windows 7 features it lists are ones I've either done without, or am able to do perfectly well with non-MS programs. But maybe I could do them better if I paid £70:00 to The Man.

Tough one.

I have a program on my netbook that will let you put up desktop wallpapers on windows 7. Let me find you a link.

It has settings so you can get it to automatically change your wallpaper as well if you want various pics. =)

Yay! That's utterly marvellous! Does exactly what I was after. You rock, and if ever we meet up I owe you a drink or a hug, whichever you prefer!

Alternatively you could put Ubuntu on (dual boot, if you like) which is faster, more secure and will let you put whatever you jolly well please on your desktop without having to pay Mr Gates £70 for the privilege ... :-)
