End of year meme.
Dec. 31st, 2012 02:45 pm1. What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
Nothing that's so outstanding that it springs to mind, I'm afraid. Well, that's got off to a great start...
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any. I tend to be of the opinion that not making any is a fairly safe way of ensuring that you don't break any. On the other hand, maybe I need a bit of an incentive.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not immediately close to me, although at least a couple of my friends on Facebook have given birth over the past twelve months.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Again, not immediately close to me.
5. What countries did you visit?
Spain, twice.
6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
Organisation. I think that's my usual desire. If Tesco decided to sell it in packets, they'd have an instant customer in me.
7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Well, ironically I don't remember the actual date, but the day I had seven teeth out will rather stand out, for obvious reasons. And despite being under general anaesthetic for the really important bit.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Staying reasonably sane. And although it still upsets me from time to time, gradually putting the past behind me.
9. What was your biggest failure?
None that really stand out.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Ongoing depression (and technically diabetes, although I tend to ignore that).
11. What was the best thing you bought?
No single thing, I don't think, but replacing my audio tape collection with dead cheap CDs from ye old Amazonne Markette Place is one of the best things I've done.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Sarah, my family, and my friends.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Homophobes, racists, bigots of various stripes. The sorts of fans who launch death threats against Steven Moffat, or open fake Twitter accounts pretending to be Caitlin Blackwood. US gun nuts.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, food, CDs and DVDs.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Sarah getting me a MacBook.
16. What song will always remind you of 2012?
According to iTunes, the song I've played most (a grand total of 5 times, which leads me to doubt its reliability) is Swan Lake by The Church from their Priest=Aura album.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I think reasonably happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? I suspect, no real change. I'd like to think I might be a bit thinner. You never know.
iii. richer or poorer? Probably poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading (I don't think this year was a record low in terms of number of books read, but it's not far off). Studying for my Faith & Worship course. Writing sermons and preparing services.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting time.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Been and gone. I was down in Chelmsford with Sarah, my parents, my sister Antonia, her husband and their two kids.

Several, but none for the first time.
22. Did you fall in love in 2012?
I'm already in love with Sarah.
23. How many one-night stands?
365. All with Sarah. :-)
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Doctor Who, as usual.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone.
26. What was the best book you read?
Grief. Probably Kate Griffin's The Neon Court. But I didn't finish many.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
For myself...I'm quite fond of Caro Emerald. But late to the party, as usual.
28. What did you want and get?
Materially, the MacBook and the iPad Mini from Sarah. Also, started going along to a therapy group, which I think is gradually doing me some good.
29. What did you want and not get?
More money, more organisation.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Probably The Avengers, with The Hobbit running it a close second.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
On the day itself, went to work, then out for a meal at the local Toby Carvery with Sarah. The day before, though, Sarah and I, with Misha and Zoe, went to see The Hobbit followed by a Nando's, which was good fun.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being better organised and having more money.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
In previous years, I've said "Scruffy chic". However, a.) the discovery of a load of sheds without the buttons missings in the wardrobe at Sarah's mum's, b.) getting a pair of braces, and c.) having the buttons sewn on the shirts that were missing them, has kind of put paid to that. Possibly not-so-scruffy chic?

Sarah. Citalopram.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jenna-Louise Coleman.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
LGBT rights and marriage equality.
37. Who did you miss?
Charlotte Coleman. I tend to miss her most years.
