Do you ever have that thing where you're trying to write a sentence (in this case, an LJ comment in response to someone else's LJ comment) and you suddenly realise (maybe because of a double negative too far) that you're not sure if the sentence you're writing is actually saying what you want it to say and after a bit of deliberation you just decide to give up there and then?

Because, that.

I'm really not sure if I'm sufficiently with it to drive to work...

No, not that kind of plug. Tch.

Some of you may know [livejournal.com profile] entorien. If you don't know her, go over and say "hi". She doesn't bite.

[livejournal.com profile] entorien, or Carrie, has written and self-published a trilogy of fantasy novels, the T'fae novels. They're not really what this plug post is about, but actually, if you're looking for some good fantasy to read, go on and treat yourself. They're really good, in my opinion, telling an interesting story. With the caveat that I'm still only about three-quarters through the second book. But at only £5:99 they're not exactly going to break the bank.

But what Carrie has also done is a crossover fic, in which the characters from her T'fae novels end up in the world of Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels. If you like the Pern novels, you may well find this crossover fic interesting. If you don't like the Pern novels, well - give it a go anyway. I've been beta-reading the story, and started out with no prior knowledge of Pern (well, apart from knowing that they're about dragons), and the fic introduces the background and the characters and concepts in a way that makes perfect sense to me as an outsider.

It's an epic length fic, and Carrie's set up an LJ comm, [livejournal.com profile] ent_dragonworld, to post a couple of chapters a week, once every Tuesday and Friday. If you think you might enjoy it, pop over, watch the community, and have a read. On the strength of what I've read so far, I'd recommend it as a good, enjoyable read.

This has been a public service announcement.

If I'm at home, my absolute favourite would have to be my fish soup. No starter or dessert, but probably lemon barley water to drink.

Eating out, Nando's - a bowl of peri-peri nuts as a starter (although Sarah eats most of them, as they're a tad too spicy for my delicate palette); a lemon & herb double chicken breast burger, no mayo, corn on the cob and mash for the main course; and Fanta to drink. If I've still got room for dessert, either strawberry ice cream or coconut tart. YUM.

I wouldn't class it as full on depression - it's nowhere near that - but since this morning I've been feeling a bit...I dunno, "off-kilter" is the best way I can describe it. Emotionally/mentally, not physically.

Trying to listen to stuff while I work to take my mind off it, but it's not really working.

I might try hibernating tonight...I don't think this weekend can come soon enough.

...we've just reached one of those moments in a vintage episode of ISIHAC where Sandi Toksvig is rendered incapable of speech by a fit of the giggles.

Bless. :o)

"It wasn't until 1941 that Bournemouth came to the world's attention, when the course of World War II was changed for good, after the Japanese made the mistake of bombing Poole Harbour."

(From I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue, 13th November 2000. And probably several other episodes as well.)

*I think there needs to be a KER-TISH about here...
