You (probably) get a shorter sentence if you signal from early on that you intend to plead guilty, co-operate with the investigation, and show remorse. The basic principle doesn't seem objectionable.

Same here. I think, seeing as part of the point of a sentence is rehabilitation, they take into account if you've already acknowledged or understood that what you did was wrong.
