The point (har har) of Pointless is like Family Fortunes in reverse: Contestants are given a category, and have to supply an answer given by as *few* of the 100-person focus group as possible. You score according to how many people said it, low scores are obviously better.
Final round, you have three guesses to find a Pointless answer (i.e an answer nobody in the group of 100 gave; in the main game, it would score you zero points).
